Reviews
Went here twice during my stay in Richmond. I didn't think it would be great with all the tv hype here and the local neighborhood, but I'm impressed with the food. People were constantly coming in and out which was a great thing. Food prices were cheap and reasonable compared to BBQ in Brooklyn. We ordered the baby back ribs, of course. The meat easily comes off the bone and you know it has been smoked for many hours by noticing the smoke ring. We also love the sides that they offered. Our favorites are the Bourbon Apples, Baked Beans, Cajun corn cobettes, and chili cheese cornbread. Most importantly, our food came out hot!
I was returning from DC and decided to stop for lunch in Richmond. I chose Buz and Ned's due to their reviews. There is no indoor seating at this time. You order at the window and op to eat at the picnic tables in front or take it with you. I ordered the sliders w/Mac and cheese, coleslaw, and hush puppies. The sliders were pulled chicken, brisket, and pulled pork I believe. The brisket tasted amazing! The hush puppies were great also!!! They were piping hot with a buttery onion taste. Easily some of the best hush puppies I have ever had. The coleslaw and Mac and cheese were good but not great. I'd still order them again if I ever went back. The customer service was top tier and food was good. I will stop by again when I'm in the area!
(Last visited 11/16/2020.) Working in Richmond for the week and I'm on the hunt for some smoked wings! Buz And Ned's Real Barbecue had exactly that on their menu so I went for it! Atmosphere/Appearance: I got takeout because I wanted to eat in the comfort of my hotel so I never actually went inside, but what I saw from the outside gave me so much hope for this place. Lol. It looked sort-of like a shack where you could see the kitchen fulfilling orders and putting things together right in front of you. So you know the food was about to be grand. The smell was incredible and just made your mouth water. Service: Again, I didn't actually get table service here, but the gentlemen behind the counter took excellent care of me. Food: Now, the moment you've been waiting for. I ordered the smoked chicken wings meal which comes with 4 WHOLE wings and 2 sides. You can get the wings in their dry rub or signature sauce. I chose the fresh country collard greens and sweet potato fries as my sides. They both were extra, but no matter. I also opted for a bowl of Buz's Homemade Chili. I know, I know, that's a lot of food, but I wanted to be able to try a little bit of everything. The chili was excellent. It was spicy, hearty and FULL of savory, rich flavor. The collard greens were decently prepared, nice and salty. The sweet potato fries were crispy and not terribly sweet. I chose the wet wings and they were very, very good. They were huge, moist, tender, a bit crispy and the sauce was a great mix of sweet and spicy. Value: Barbecue is NEVER cheap, but it's always worth it. So my 4 whole wings with 2 sides was $17.97. That's not awful, but that is certainly pricy. It was an extra $1.49 to upgrade one of my sides to the collard greens and an additional $1.49 to upgrade the other side to sweet potato fries. The bowl of chili was $7.49. Like I said, the food isn't cheap, but the portions are done well and you don't leave hungry. In conclusion, I was very happy with my experience here. I haven't had barbecue in quite a while and this was a great reminder of why I should eat barbecue more often! Yum! Surprisingly, this is my first time ordered from buz & Ned's -- I've had there food long ago at VCU events. I ordered for delivery through a 3rd party. First glance at the menu wanted to order so much. I ended up getting the slider sample with the Cajun corn and mac & cheese, along with a brownie for dessert. First -- they ran out of brownies! This is the ONLY company to call me directly and promptly when they were out of an item (remember, I ordered 3rd party). I was glad for that and happily switched to the bread pudding. The food was delish!! That Cajun corn is amazing! I thought the 2 pieces would be too much but I definitely wanted more when I finished. The sliders were good -- my fav was the pork. It was seasoned so well and the sauce was a perfect compliment. The brisket & chicken were not my favorite, but they were not bad at all either. The mac & cheese was also yummy. The bread pudding...I could have done without. It was a bit dry and lacked flavor. Otherwise, can't wait to try more of the menu!!
Superb RIBS! You will be hard pressed to find any better. I first stopped at Bus and Ned's in 2015 because they beat Bobby Flay. I knew it had to be good, I just didn't realize how good! And, through the years the quality has remained consistently outstanding. The decor may be simple, the service is streamlined at the counter, but the food is a flavor fest that you will always fondly remember.
